Successful Launch of GEO-KOMPSAT 2B Satellite (February 19)

Geostationary Environmental Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS) onboard the GEO-KOMPSAT 2B (GK-2B) Satellite was successfully launched from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou of French Guiana on February 19 at about 7:18 AM (about 19:18 on February 18 local time).

◇ Successful detachment of GK-2B to normal condition about 31 minutes after the launch
◇ Successful first communication with the earth station (Yatharagga, Australia) at 07:55 AM
